GS6-04 Common Messages and Prompts

 

PURPOSE

 

Ideal software has been designed to ensure maximum uniformity of the user interface. This means that some system messages and prompts occur throughout all the module programs and utilities. This article explains the common prompts that you will encounter in maintenance programs.

 

 

COMMON PROMPTS

 

The following prompt is displayed when you enter a system code that does not exist in the master data file.

 

** NOT ON FILE. DO YOU WANT TO ADD ? (CR=YES/F2=NO):

 

[Enter] to proceed with the addition of a new record.

 

[F2] to not add a new record.

 

 

The following prompts are displayed when you access an existing record.

 

** 'M' TO MODIFY; 'D' TO DELETE; CR TO CONTINUE:

 

"M" to enter edit mode.

 

A second prompt will display asking you to enter the number of the field you wish to modify.

 

 

** FIELD NUMBER TO MODIFY:

 

[Enter] the number of the field you wish to modify.

 

"D" to delete the record.

 

You will be prompted to confirm.

 

 

[Enter] to clear the display.

 

You can then access another existing record or add a new record.

 

 

 

** FIELD NUMBER TO MODIFY; 'D' TO DELETE; CR TO CONTINUE:

 

Enter the number of the field you wish to modify.

 

"D" to delete the record.

 

You will be prompted to confirm.

 


[Enter] to clear the display.

 

You can then access another existing record or add a new record.

 

 

 

The following prompt is displayed after you have either added a new record, deleted or modified an existing record.

 

** OK TO UPDATE? (CR TO UPDATE; F2 TO MODIFY; F4 TO BYPASS):

 

[Enter] to accept the addition, modification or deletion of the record.

 

[F2] to make additional changes to the information you have entered.

 

[F4] to clear.

 

Clear all fields of a new entry and begin again. Cancel any changes or deletions to existing records.

 

 

 

 

COMMON MESSAGES

 

** OK TO DELETE? (Y/N):

 

"Y" to delete the record.

 

"N" to not delete the record.
