29092 GENERAL SYSTEM GUIDE PROCESSING GS3-05 Updating
PURPOSE
Entering transaction data is a two step procedure. Data is first entered into temporary workfiles that are updated in batches to the transaction files periodically, usually at the end of a work session or workday. This article describes the procedure for updating data from the temporary workfiles to the transaction files.
PROCEDURE
Terminal Dependent Batches
When you have completed data entry in a terminal dependent batch (A/R and A/P modules only) you are taken to the print menu where you may print the batch registers
You must print the registers before the program will allow you to update the data in the batch workfiles. After printing the registers the Batch Options prompt is displayed.
** ENTER OPTION.... REPRINT; MORE INPUT; UPDATE; ABORT; END:
"U" to update the batch.
The program updates the workfiles and you are then returned to the menu.
Terminal Independent Batches
After you have created and completed entering data or accessed an existing terminal independent batch, the Batch Options Selection menu is displayed (see 29089 BATCH OPTIONS). If the registers have not yet been printed, or if changes have been made since printing the registers, you must print the registers before the program will allow you to update the data in the batch workfiles.
At the Batch Register Options Selection menu, enter "U" to update the workfiles. The program updates the workfiles and you are then returned to the Batch Register Options Selection menu.
For a description of the other batch options see 29089 BATCH OPTIONS.
